Atmospheric Entry

So I guess you could say I've always been quite the Star Wars nerd. Ever since a little kid I would spend countless hours listening to John Williams' score and playing with my spaceships.

And now that I'm 'grown up' I guess you could say little has changed. My inspiration for these pictures comes from my countless hours of imaginative play. Having this simple yet powerful idea was so fun to do. I won't spoil how I did it, but let's just say there was minimal photoshopping involved, and definitely no green screen. The thing I have always loved about Star Wars is it's use of practical effects and real scale models. There's just something about the level of detail and the way the light hits it that is hard to replicate with CGI. In the vein of that tradition, I set out to create a series of pictures that mimic that style. The images are simple, but beautiful. A lone starship entering the atmosphere of some distant planet just as the Sun breaks over the crest. I hope these pictures captivate you with its story, inspire you to go create something, and enlarge your imagination.
